Practical, evidence-based support for women who have been holding it together for far too long.

Anxiety and depression are not signs of weakness. They are what happens when a human being has been carrying too much for too long without enough support. They are signals, not verdicts.

Many of the women we see have spent years performing wellness for the people around them while privately feeling like they are drowning. The exhaustion of pretending is often as heavy as the anxiety itself.

Our approach combines grounded, evidence-based techniques — cognitive-behavioural tools, mindfulness, and trauma-informed grounding — with the unhurried human conversation that is the real engine of change. We do not treat symptoms in isolation from the life producing them.

For many women, the Medicare pathway means a GP visit, a mental health care plan, a diagnosis on their medical record, and a three-month wait. For some, that is the right choice. For others, the barriers are exactly why they never seek help at all.

At Safe Refuge you can book directly, you do not need a diagnosis, and you can see someone within the week. No one needs to know you are coming. That matters more than some clinicians realise.
